redesigns for the main 3 have been finished!
Tumblr media
unrendered as these are meant to be used as color reference when I make sprites. these ended up way more drastic than I thought they were gonna be, especially Sweet's! I expected Cap'n to change the most, but he's the most similar. I'll be off to try and buy Deltarune in order to play through the new chapters now! There's some explanation for the changes under the cut.
A lot of details got simplified and the color palette cut down to be more sprite-friendly. Most of the original designs had colors that were wayyy too close to each other while making the color count bigger than it should've been.
Color palettes made more distinct from each other while actually having shared colors instead of being the same hue. The original designs were color picked from a lightened version of their shop sprites, these were mostly hand-picked. I wanted to make them look more color-coded instead of all being extremely purple, while also having the cohesion from sharing colors that the Deltarune Sweet Cap'n Cakes do! You might notice that Kace is missing the shared yellows, that's intentional.
Sweet's eye now has a shadow over it like Kris! His pupil won't show up in sprites, this is just for most of my artwork. It's a pretty old idea, I just didn't have the idea to move his hat more downwards to justify it back then. Dunno how I didn't think of that.
Speaking of Sweet, his outfit should hopefully be a little more readable as cyber in addition to traditional fantasy bard than his original design.
Cap'n got the shades that I was originally going to give him when I was sketching the first takes! I'm not sure if I'll still have his shades be moved upwards in chapter 2 onwards or just have his pupils become visible, though.
A LOT changed for Kace. Mostly for making him appear more as his own character instead of a fusion of Ralsei and K_K. His outfit takes some inspiration from those anonymous musicians and DJs who wear masks over their faces. I thought it'd be neat if the Delta Rune was flipped in some way in this AU since the dark and light worlds are, making the angel into the demon or something. Since Ralsei kinda has devilish features, Kace has angelic, I guess? I'll just say his new handle is supposed to look like a stylized halo.

Posting my Ultimate Byler Evidence/Analysis List here directly because it probably makes it more convenient and I should have done this a while ago. XD
There is so much proof for Byler being endgame in S5 of Stranger Things. They are so cute together, and so much in the show has been building up to their relationship. I just wanted to share some of my favourite Byler analyses, because they are so cool, detailed, and in-depth. I love reading about all the hints, symbolism, and subtext for Byler, it's amazing how much thought must have been put into all these things. Why go through all the effort of adding these details if they aren't actually going anywhere with them? Mike is so queercoded, and they are truly in love with each other.
🫥 Just gonna leave some good Byler analyses here 🤐
Most of the links go to written Tumblr posts, and a couple of them are Reddit posts. So it's a lot of reading. If you prefer watching videos over reading, I highlighted my Byler YouTube playlist in green so it's easy to find.
And apologies for any of the links that aren't working, I know some of the posts have been deleted now sadly, but there's no way I'm re-numbering all these so I'm just leaving them in. My fellow Bylers, please stop deleting your amazing posts. ;-;
So anyway, here is the list of some of my favourite Byler evidence/analyses of all time (not in any particular order):

hey balu, do you know how to recolor skin / how a coloring psd works for that? like for a character that's pale and not the shade they should be ( cough cough natlan ) asking bc I want to that but idk how
Hiya, anon! I can explain how I personally do it, but here's a huuuuuuge disclaimer: I'm colourblind, so I heavily rely on colour wheel pointers. Throughout this tutorial, you'll see me constantly comparing where the pointer is and trying to use my somewhat limited knowledge of colour theory. I'm sure other creators have other ways to do this that are much simpler and/or more effective; you should look for and check out other tutorials here on Tumblr, YouTube, or Twitter!
Due to the limited previews of images on Tumblr, you can also open the images on new tabs to see more details.
For religious and political reasons, I will not use a Natlan character as an example. Instead, I'll use Candace (also from Genshin Impact) as our muse. Specifically, I will use her character card art image, which can be found on the Genshin Impact fandom wiki. The image quality is not so great, so that's why we'll see some bleeding pixels here and there. Dealing with those is another tutorial altogether. Also, if you meant an absolutely pale character (with littler to no melanin), that would be another tutorial, too. So, I'll be sticking with these examples and explanations here! This can give you a starting point.
In this tutorial, we will go from this before (left) to this after (right):
Tumblr media
Also, I'd like to point out that these steps are for this specific picture/character. Though the same logic can be applied to other characters and images, it's imperative to remember, especially when you're starting your editing adventures, that there is no fool-proof and 100% universal PSD. I'm just explaining the logic behind how a colouring PSD works and some of my mental processes behind it.
Please consider reblogging, liking this post, and/or supporting me on ko-fi if this helped you! That way, I can keep bringing you tutorials like this faster and more effectively. ~
Now, let's begin!
Tumblr media
First, we must notice that skin colours (even paler ones) are shade variations of yellows and reds. If we check the hex code colour/colour pointer on the colour wheel, we will see that Candace's skin colour is at the intersection between red and yellow, and is on the lighter/less saturated part.
Tumblr media
Here, I am deepening/saturating the blues of her clothes by creating a Hue/Saturation layer, changing from Master > Blues and adjusting the Hue and Saturation values. Colour theory basics: opposing colours on the colour wheels will give a more significant idea of contrast; the bluer colours will appear colder, and the warmer colours will appear hotter and, therefore, more saturated.
Tumblr media
In this second step, I am creating a Selective Colour layer, focusing on the Reds. I want this to be highly reddish for now, so I'm lowering the Cyans to the minimum values I can. Notice how the colour wheel pointers went down, meaning we are in a redder, more saturated and more precise zone. The darker the skin, the redder its colours will be in pictures.
Tumblr media
Thirdly, I am now creating a Colour Balance layer. Since I want to adjust the warmer colours (e.g., Reds), I am adding more reds, magentas, and yellows.
Tumblr media
The exact process I did for Candace's clothes, I'll do for her accessories. Her accessories blended too much with her skin tone (hex code-wise and I imagine that for the normal eye, too). So, to make the yellows on her accessories pop and be more different from her skin, I created yet another Hue/Saturation layer and changed from Master > Yellows, altering the Hues, Saturation and Lightness values.
Tumblr media
Now that we have the image's primary colours (blues, reds, yellows) separated, it is time to deepen/saturate the reds. So here, I made another Selective Colour layer, also focusing on the Reds. Notice that now I'm also increasing the Cyan values. Why? Because Cyans make the reds look darker, and I want exactly that. So everything will increase in value.
Tumblr media
To further deepen these colours, I created a Curves Layer and tweaked each RGB curve. I made the blues lighter; meanwhile, the greens and reds went darker. Again, colour theory! Notice on the colour wheel that her skin is extremely red and saturated. This is precisely what I want. Why? Well...
Tumblr media
... Because now, by using a Selective Colour layer again, I can make her skin magentaish. Pure magentas are rare in pictures, even fantasy/2D characters. Generally, you will find variations of purples, pinks or reds, but magentas are more difficult to find. Therefore, they're easier to work with/edit. Even if the character had magenta colours, we could've isolated them beforehand, too. This step guarantees that my PSD will solely focus on her skin tone, basically.
Tumblr media
Our final step is to create another Hue/Saturation layer and change the setting from Master > Magentas. We will decrease the Saturation and Lightness values and slide the Hue bar to the right. And now, check the colour wheel: it's a beautiful dark brown! It's popping a lot against the yellows and blues. ~
This is where we started vs where we finished!
Tumblr media
So there you have it! A speedy but hopefully informative tutorial on how colouring PSD works and how you can quickly love your characters a bit more when doing edits and graphics for them!
Again, please consider reblogging, liking this post, and/or supporting me on ko-fi if this helped you! That way, I can keep bringing you tutorials like this faster and more effectively. ~
If you have any questions, please let me know!

more details of experiment edits on AAC:
first i will show 3 pictures of Supercore 50:
how it looks automatically without any edits
my current grid set that i use for communication
the version of this grid set i added just to try colour changes and other visual edits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image description: 3 images of the same vocabulary grid set in Grid 3, called Supercore 50. the first image has rounded corners on buttons, a white background, bigger spacing, and text labels on every button with text above symbol. second image is similar looking with same rounded buttons, but less spacing. is different by black background, text label removed from folder and menu/function buttons, text below symbol. third image is very different looking from other two. same black background, menu and main folder buttons have black background with simple coloured symbol, mainly yellow. no folder buttons have text label, and many have simplified symbol. all button colours are altered in tone and shade. all darker colours, easier on the eye. the "little words" buttons are changed from almost white to dark grey with yellow text. End ID.]
here is explanation:
added new version of my grid set (Supercore 50) to just play around with and change colours and see what works. didn't want to mess up my actual grid set with all my personal edits and added vocabulary. didn't go to bother of making it all "uniform" across the whole device (because is time consuming and i will have to do that eventually on my real grid set).
mostly just tried out different colours. and how to make home page as easy to visual process as possible. didn't change colour coding (for example pronouns yellow, verbs green, adjectives blue, little words grey-ish - that all stay. just change tone of colours to not "attack" eyes).
eyes can't cope with a lot of "whiteness" in any colours, especially on a screen where there is so much white/blue light already. makes much sensory overload and bad headaches. pastel colours or very bright neon or light blue/purple/yellow/grey... not fun. brain simply skips over any blocks of those colours cause it can't get past whiteness to see what is on the button.
in Grid 3 edit menu you can change colour of button - there is a palette of pre-made colours, but you can also do "adjust colour" and choose custom colour there. and there is something called "button styles" so you can just edit one button how you want, then say "update style" and it will change all buttons with that "style".
i worked out that turning down "saturation" and "luminosity" helps me a lot. then the colour doesn't "attack" my eyes so much, so i can actually search the screen for the symbol/word i want. better visual scanning ability.
also removed borders on buttons. just adds extra stuff for eyes to get "stuck" on. it looks cleaner without border.
On Grid 3 there is also different button "themes" available (different from button styles), which changes the entire automatic look of the entire grid set with just change that. changed from "modern" to "blocky" theme. because there is a slight "colour gradient" on buttons with "modern" theme (I think🤷🏻‍♂️). meaning there is more highlight at the top of the button on more shadow/darker at the bottom. makes it hard to see the symbols and text because it is not "flat" looking. to me the "modern" theme looks slightly bumpy and 3D, the "blocky" theme looks flat. and brain can't process 3D (especially not at same time as try to search for words and scan screen).
i also made the "menu" buttons or "grid functions" buttons have black background (to match black background of entire grid set), with symbol in yellow. and remove text labels for these buttons and some folder buttons. this helps because then only the word buttons "jump out" at brain. so there is less "bulk" of the screen to process. and the "function" buttons have only simple symbol, so can easily find!
this is all still only changed in the blank version of Supercore 50 that I added for this specific purpose. it is a HUGE change to my AAC. so i can't just change it all at once. it will have to happen in stages. and i am still not 100% sure of all the changes. (for example i don't really know what to do with the folders. don't like how they look right now...). so i have to be very confident in a change before i can make my real grid have it.
(also there is still folders and buttons i haven't changed at all. just mostly did home grid so i can see the difference. still working on it and will be long time until ready to change my real AAC).
i will keep updating on the changes!

kind of randomly spurred post, but i was just wondering how many endless ocean fans knew about the development screenshots we have of the first game... so i figured i'd share them with you all, along with some light analysis for those interested in this game's development history!
so the development photos i'll be going into in this post were revealed to the public in 2014-2015, shared on the twitter account of ichiro mihara, the vice president of arika and series producer of the endless ocean games! nowadays, he mostly just posts food pics and pokemon go stuff... kinda living the dream ngl
below is the complete set of screenshots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the most obvious difference here to most players would be creatures placed where they shouldn't be, such as the yellow boxfish in an atypical zoom, and the presence of false clown anemonefish in the abyss and ship's rest. while the boxfish photo i don't have any explanation for other than the creature moving around a little at some point in development, the anemonefish photos i have a more interesting explanation for!
we can use these photos, along with multiple other photos of clownfish in eo1 zooms taken during development (which are used on the plaques of eo2's aquarium), to deduce that this clownfish species was used as a test creature for zoom environments! i mean, it's pretty obvious they weren't intending for you to actually find clownfish in the depths... and due to their order in the game's internal d code life system, we can assume they were among the first zoom mode creatures to be added. it all lines up! though i'm glad the little guys don't have to suffer that insane water pressure anymore...
now, another big difference is the lack of water fog in most of these photos! it's especially obvious in the photos taken in zoom mode that this portion of the game had yet to be figured out at the point those photos were taken. for comparison, here's the yellow boxfish photo compared with a photo of the same staghorn coral zoom in the final game:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
big difference, huh? this fog would be even stronger if i weren't using an emulator to take my photos - dolphin tends to skimp a little on the fog. but, this lines up with what we know about this game's development: during a post-release developer interview (which you can view translated into english here), they mentioned struggling to make this fog feel right - more oceanic than foggy feeling, and accurately changing with the player's current depth - and these photos illustrate that there was a time where fog in zoom mode spots was neglected entirely!
the screenshot of the open encyclopedia also has a lot of interesting differences from the final game. take a look here, comparing the same page:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(note that of course, the development photo was taken in japanese, while my screenshot is in english: "fish who live in the ocean" is actually what the deep sea section is called in the final japanese release... trust me, i checked)
so obviously, the layout of these pages is completely different! i imagine the details on these small fish would have been barely legible on the average person's tv at the time, so making them bigger was a good call. additionally, the encyclopedia used to be navigated using arrow buttons and a back button to exit! this back button is completely unused in the final game, probably just because it's redundant when in the final game, you can just press the b button to go back. three other small changes are that:
in the dev screenshot, the encyclopedia's page background is just a texture, as opposed to a 3d model as seen in the final game. this means it's likely the pages didn't flip like a real book does at this point.
the scientific names of the giant squid and the oarfish was altered.
there are no page numbers in the encyclopedia.
now, for a quick lightning round of smaller changes!
in the final game, there is only one place to find remoras: accompanied by the whale shark in entryway slope, in small numbers. this contrasts with the whale shark photo, in which way more remoras are seen surrounding it, and in an area deeper than entryway slope allows. since this photo was also an old promotional image, and we have footage of the game from previews around the same time, the most plausible explanation is that this whale shark was placed in the game's unused test stage (which i should also make a post about at some point lol).
the penguin photo was taken with an angle impossible in the final game, as was the polar bear photo and the starck's demoiselle photo.
also in the penguin photo, there are two hatches typically present on the deck of the gabbiano (one on either side of the mast), that are absent.
the water surrounding the gabbiano in the polar bear photo is a different color than in the final game.
the starck's demoiselle photo has a bright cyan water color in the background, which is never visible in the final game without camera hacks.
finally, one fun fact regarding the starck's demoiselle photo: it's actually used in-game, both in this game and in the sequel! in eo1, it can be found occasionally placed in the fake magazine spreads sent to the player for a C grade photo request, and in eo2, it is the photo used to represent "DIVING MAGAZINE" when viewing photo requests!
Tumblr media
that's all of my rambling for now, i hope you found this interesting! if this kind of longpost is something you'd like to see more of in the future, let me know! i've got all sorts of topics in the chamber that i just need an excuse to write about lol

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Details:
I'm pretty sure you don't understand what's going on cause this comic doesn't work so here is an explanation.
This comic is about the way Copy discovered his ability to copy code. It happened by chance.
His brain works pretty fast so he had some things that he wanted to check. He got a little bit TOO CURIOUS and yeah… he did it. He compered codes of these bunnies and wanted to see what will happen if he copy some other parts of code. And that is the scariest part of this story. Just imagine copy-pasting or removing parts of code that are important for staying alive. IN THIS COMIC ALL BUNNIES ARE ALIVE.
This comic was supposed be pretty cruel (it's still is) but I decided to change the level of cruelty for some reason.
And yeah, THIS ORANGE THING IS NOT BLOOD. This sht is a liquid but not blood. I searched some info about the engine undertale was made on and saw some examples of code. So, there were a lot of shades of orange and yellow and I decided to add one feature. When Copy copies a lot of code his hand are getting orange.
Also about his CURIOSITY. It's basically an OBSESSION. Sometimes he's getting that curious that he won't calm down until he does the thing he's obsessed with. This time he waned to copy the bunny PERFECTLY.
Only legends know this comic was supposed to have a cover

Timeline of GGDD Love
Hi yall. This is the index post for the BTS in Order posts. This is the post to bookmark if you want to refer to it later! (The first chunk is just copypasta from the April intro. Read More to get to the links)
I've looked for timelines of the bts before, but what I've found relies heavily on video clips, many of which I don't have access to. So I decided to make a text-focused timeline in English for the bts because I'm all up in my hyperfocus.
I mainly used this playlist on billibilli, though I also looked at a few other playlists (I didn't keep links, I suck). If I came across a video/reference w another date listed for the clip, I added the alternate date in parenthesis at the end. I chose to primarily follow this playlist bc it has a LOT of clips, has clips for every day, and doesn't have anything that immediately jumps out at me as wrong. I also cross-referenced with accio-victuuri's BJYX Timeline bc it's the most complete English timeline I've seen, and I respect the effort involved. And I ultimately I triple-checked against this weibo timeline. Again, alternate dates noted in parenthesis. Not all sources always agreed.
(the note on the primary playlist has this as its explanation of its dating: 广告以官宣日期为整体依据,若跨年度拍摄,则以最新发布日期为依据整理。Which Google translates to "The advertisement is based on the official announcement date as a whole and, if shot across the year, on the latest release date." I can't parse that so *shrug*)
I've listed out the bts scenes by date. I try to describe the known scenes, though I don't list out in detail EVERYTHING that happens (if I say "Xuanwu cave, bondage conversation", I assume you all know everything else that happens around that moment)(Though sometimes I get hype and fangirlish in the descriptions). A lot of scenes were unknown to me, so I tried to describe the setting, costumes, and vaguely what's happening. Most of the scenes I did recognize had more to the clip than the ones I've seen translated.
As none of what I watched had translations, I can't provide much context with that, I'm afraid. I also do not think these are in order within a day. I don't have any way to tell, so the timeline within the day, itself, is probably wonky.
I only included bts for the most part, not stuff the boys were doing outside the production. Everything's color coded. Scenes with only gg are in red. Scenes with only dd are in green. Scenes with both are orange (yellow just isn't readable, sorry). (If there's text with no color, just assume it's the same as the last colored text)
I wrote this literally by going back and forth between billibilli and Google Keep, so the notes are a little off the cuff. Let me know if you have questions or if you don't understand something. Or if you can't identify a particular bts scene you're curious about.
People are also completely free to take this and flesh it out if they want by adding the non-bts stuff. Any mistakes are mine. People are free to correct it as well. Basically, consider this public property for other turtles. So take it, make it your own, create a comprehensive google sheet that details everything in pretty color-coded order with media links that are cross-referenced, filterable, and sortable or whatever (PLEASE SOMEBODY DO THIS).
No need to credit. If you feel you have to, just say a stoopid turtle did it.

Yoooo Marilou has a sword? :O
Also I saw something about waterproof hair and fabrics in that gijinka universe, which is really interesting! Are there any other little details like that, about the funky traits pokemon can have and how they affect the world?
(my inital response got too long and crashed my computer lol TAKE TWO)
SHE DOES! She's an oshawott so her sword is her scallchop :3 it looks and behaves mostly just like a normal non gijinka one does. is attached to her belly button and considered a part of her body. the suction to her belly button is strong enough that it can be attached through a thin layer of fabric: but ussually marilou will still have her clothes either modified to have a hole or have a special belt to attach it too. Her scallchop extends to a full length sword when she chooses! no one else including another oshawott can make it extend to sword mode.
Tumblr media
the sword itself is based off of pirate swords and samurotts' sword thingie
THERES SO MUCH FUN FUNKY STUFF so much i'm working on some drawings of eevees evolved into every eeveelution as an excuse to infodump lol
heres some fun psmd gijinka au world building/lore facts!
-if marilou were to put on a normal collared shirt, the collar would transform into an upturned frilly one: bassically a pokemon 'pokemonness' (being very connected to not just nature but like the nature of the world) connects with the physical natural material in the clothes and can modify it slightly. never by a whole lot. but enough that theres a canon explanation
Tumblr media
so yeah the universe has a species dress code basically
-species names function a bit like last names. most (but not everyone!) does have a 'real' name, and in smaller communities generally everyone will know and address others as such (with the exception of like, an elder figure, like a kid won't call the kind charizard across the street by her name she's 'ms charizard' ), but generally speaking it's rude to ask for someones name, or adress someone by such if they havn't told you you can. whats wacky is sometimes if someones adopted by another species they'll adopt an aspect of one of their adoptive parental figures names as a middle name. Marilou and Comet both do this! Marilou's full name is 'Marilouise Brazil Oshawott' Brazil as in the tree nut (Nuzleaf's name) and is 'Comet Costa' Bulbasaur' Costa like Carracosta
- humans (while considered exitnct technically can still exist in the psmd-gijinka verse) can't have 'unnatural' hair colors! within anime reason of course like a black haired humans hair can be actually a shade of blue but like, a human can't naturally have a bright colorful hair color: they can have any color eyes though!
-pokemon still come from eggs in the psmdgijinka-verse. And they still can only reproduce with pokemon from the same egg group and the species of the kid will ussually be that of the 'mother' theres a chance it can be the other parent's. though maybe some species may give live birth like how there are some reptiles etc in our world that do that, but i'm not sure yet. yeah I'm that one nerd that will go on about how theoretically how pikachu can be both a mammal and lay eggs
-most fairy types have particularly like idk the word cause usually 'fair' means pale but what I really mean is that when drawing a fairy type I'll make sure they're skin tone is more saturated than I'd usually choose has more noticeable blush and is closer to the red/pink then orange/yellow hue
-so the shades of color a pokemon can be varies a lot! however the shiny color of a pokemon does effect this. like take vaporeon for example, It's more common for a vaporeon's shades of blue to be teal then indigo sense indigo is closer to purple (vaporeons shiny color)
-while more rare type exclusionist/discrimination/not comparable to any real life bigotry so idk what to call it does exist: like they make grass type dominated towns where fire types aren't allowed and dark and ghost types are often stereotyped as mischievous and up to no good. like yeah sometimes they are but not to the extent that people act

hi i'm shy so on anon.
saw you were talking about your planning process with someone else in your comments. can you expand? found tips really helpful and wanted to see if there were any more x
Hi anon! Sorry this took so long, but thank you so much for your interest! I'm always happy to talk about my fics/writing so very happy to answer questions on it :)
Ironically, June of Doom is probably the least I've planned something in ages. Which I advise against, if trying to do a writing month (as it's now June 13th and I'm on day 6...)
Also probably went a little overboard with explaining (so under the cut) - but here you go!
So, I split my plan into bare bones then into an actual bullet point list most of the time. Sometimes, I'll just do the first half which is this:
(e.g in 'Who needs anything (but pain)' and 'Your care is not a burden')
Tumblr media
So, I've coloured coded this for convenience.
Red: The title, most of the time just the prompt/writing challenge it's part of. I generally don't write titles until the very end
Darker orange: Prompts I'm using. Typically just what I'm aiming for, but sometimes I might be using multiple prompts (e.g from a bingo card as well). Helps me keep a little focus on the prompts
Lighter orange: The relationships I'm going to be writing. Generally to help me distinguish if I want to write the fic romantically, but also helpful if I want to do a longing/pining fic in which only one character is present. Then, I can include them in relationships but not characters.
Yellow: Characters, typically listed in order of spotlight put on them. Generally I write individuals but sometimes I will write them as a group (e.g the rangers of Ithilien, or The Fellowship)
Additional tags: What I think is very important/what I want to focus on in the fic. Typically there's a genre in there, and the rest are just important points. Character clarifying tags & aus go in there (e.g Faramir Needs a Hug or Coffeeshop AU)
Then we get to my summary. Ideally, this is a short way of summarising everything I want to happen in a fic without going into too much detail. It can be expanded upon later. Often this changes a little once I've started writing, but oh well... (all summary is in the cyan box)
Dark blue: These are plot points I think are major, but are more of a general plot point/vibe than a detailed explanation. These are the bits I can expand upon later in notes, or can write in more detail when I get to them.
Purple: Purple are plot points I think are a major beat/carry a very specific thought and emotion I want to get across. Such as Faramir taking his bandages off; it was very important to me how that was done and the motives/emotions behind it so I expand upon them now rather than leave it.
Once I've done this, I will sometimes just leave it there and write the story immediately. Sometimes I have a very clear idea, a shorter idea, or a rather simple one that doesn't need to be expanded on. And sometimes I just really want to write.
Now, onto the bullet points! These are my more detailed plans for it. They can vary in length (e.g this is a 6.9k fic, but I have a 5k fic with two pages of notes as I added a lot of details.)
Tumblr media
Red: This is the start of my story, but I've highlighted it specifically for its relationship with orange. Red is the overarching idea behind orange, and what I should emphasis/draw back too while writing up orange's actions.
Orange: Orange are all ideas that fall under red's themes/intentions. I use the arrow to show these should all be linked together and aren't independent beats of the story (e.g they're all Faramir's memories)
Yellow: This is a rather average amount of detail for me if I have the scene clear in my mind. Instead of briefly summing up the scene I'm doing it more as a play by play just without the prose/dialogue involved. I find this works especially well if you have the scene clearly in your mind while your writing, as if it's a good idea there's no reason to pare it back just for the sake of simple notes.
Green: Ironically, didn't use this in the fic. BUT, this is an example of practically an entire scene of multiple paragraphs written in a single bullet point - just a simple description. I use this when I just can't think of/can't be bothered to think of the details while planning, or if I'm not entirely sure how the scene will work. I know what should be in it/its role in the story, but do I want Faramir to meet people? To give up because of pain? Sometimes it's easier to answer as you're writing - especially as this is hurt setting up for comfort, but I'm not completely sure what hurt I've already written.
Cyan: Cyan is the in between of yellow and green scenes. I've put more thought into what's happening/the scenes are shorter, but they're still pretty bare. In this case it's because I've known for a while what I want to happen so won't write it again.
Dark blue: This is the comfort in my fic! Or the planned comfort (didn't end up writing it this way). This is similar to green in it's more bare bones, but I've also written emotions I want in the text/meaning behind it.
Purple: The arrow is to show that this is a separate idea/new paragraph, but it's very directly caused by what's just happened so I want to retain that link.
Wow, this was... longer than expected. Hope whoever's read to the end enjoyed it, however - and that it was helpful! This plan is a plan of Pull me together if it ended up interesting you.
Also, my plan in the first paragraph is a little long for me. Here's another example that's more my average length:
Boromir and Faramir, along with some men (a mix of rangers and non), are ambushed and quickly overwhelmed. Beginning to fall back, Boromir is reluctant to leave but enough of his unit is pushing so he retreats. Only away from the battle does he realise Faramir isn't with him. He tries to go back but the men say not yet/he'll be killed. Boromir asks rangers how they could leave there captain - they say it was Faramir's orders.

GTO Tasks: Colour & General Rules in SSB Interview
The Services Selection Board (SSB) interview is a critical phase in the selection process for officers in the Indian Armed Forces. One of the most crucial parts of the SSB interview is the Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks. These tasks are designed to assess the candidates' physical and mental abilities, teamwork, leadership qualities, and problem-solving skills. Here's a detailed look at the GTO tasks, their categorization by color, and the general rules candidates should follow.
Tumblr media
GTO Tasks Overview
The GTO tasks are divided into several categories, each with a specific focus. These tasks include:
Group Discussion (GD)
Group Planning Exercise (GPE)
Progressive Group Tasks (PGT)
Half Group Tasks (HGT)
Individual Obstacles (IO)
Group Obstacles Race (GOR)
Command Task (CT)
Lecturette
Final Group Task (FGT)
Colour Coding of GTO Tasks
The GTO tasks are often associated with color codes to indicate the level of difficulty and the type of skills being assessed. Here’s a brief explanation of the color coding system:
White Tasks
Tasks: Progressive Group Tasks (PGT), Half Group Tasks (HGT), Final Group Task (FGT)
Description: These tasks are typically the initial and final group activities that require teamwork, coordination, and basic problem-solving abilities. They are considered less challenging in terms of physical effort but demand effective group collaboration.
Red Tasks
Tasks: Group Obstacles Race (GOR)
Description: These tasks are physically demanding and are designed to test the candidate's stamina, strength, and agility. The GOR, commonly known as the Snake Race, involves navigating a series of obstacles while carrying a heavy load, typically a large wooden log or snake-like object.
Green Tasks
Tasks: Individual Obstacles (IO)
Description: These tasks are individual efforts where candidates must complete a series of physical obstacles within a time limit. The aim is to assess individual physical fitness, courage, and the ability to take calculated risks.
Yellow Tasks
Tasks: Command Task (CT)
Description: This task focuses on leadership and problem-solving skills. The candidate, acting as a commander, must lead a group to solve a specific problem or navigate an obstacle. The task is designed to test leadership, initiative, and decision-making under pressure.
General Rules for GTO Tasks
To perform well in the GTO tasks, candidates should adhere to the following general rules:
Understand the Instructions:
Listen carefully to the instructions given by the GTO. Clarify any doubts before the task begins.
Teamwork:
Work effectively as part of a team. Support your teammates and contribute constructively to group activities.
Leadership:
Show initiative and take charge when necessary, but avoid being overly dominant. Balance assertiveness with cooperation.
Communication:
Communicate clearly and concisely. Good communication is key to successful group tasks and leadership roles.
Physical Fitness:
Maintain a good level of physical fitness. The tasks require stamina, agility, and strength, so being in good shape is essential.
Problem-Solving:
Approach each task with a problem-solving mindset. Think logically and come up with innovative solutions to overcome obstacles.
Follow Safety Guidelines:
Adhere to all safety instructions and guidelines. Safety is paramount during physical tasks.
Stay Calm and Composed:
Maintain composure under pressure. Stay focused and avoid panicking during challenging tasks.
Observation:
Observe other candidates and learn from their strategies and mistakes. Adapt your approach based on observations.
Be Positive:
Maintain a positive attitude throughout the tasks. Encouragement and optimism can boost team morale and performance.
Conclusion
The GTO tasks in the SSB interview are designed to assess a candidate's overall suitability for a career in the armed forces. By understanding the color coding and following the general rules, candidates can enhance their performance and increase their chances of success. Remember, the key to excelling in the GTO tasks lies in effective teamwork, strong leadership, clear communication, and maintaining a high level of physical and mental fitness.

Can you please tell how did you get the dark blue text for Bubba and how did you get the yellow text for Kickin? Because I can only 6 colors but not those ones
I go on a website called jsfiddle.net, specifically on my computer, and there's a white box at the right bottom corner. There are two textboxes, the one on top is what you type into, and the one at the bottom is what you copy and paste. There's two colored boxes that are red and green, I click on the first one and find a color I would think fit, making the other one the same color. The website is used for gradient text, but if you don't want it to be that way, just do what I explained. Then when you have your preferred colors, click run. Then, text will appear at the bottom and that's what you copy. Then, for putting it on Tumblr, edit whatever you want to edit on there, and click on the gear that's at the top right. Scroll down until you see the words, Text Editor, click on rich text and switch to HTML. Then you'll see a bunch of code, but don't worry because you'll just have to search(look) where you want to insert the copied text. Then just insert it! If you're confused about inserting, the text will be between these thingies, </p>. Sometimes it's just in between your sentence, which you do the same thing as what I just told you. If you want to see the colored text, just click on preview. It's a long explanation, but I tried to go detail by detail just so you don't get confused ^_^.

Sorry, I've been a little busy and haven't had time to respond right away.
First of all, thanks for the detailed explanation! I'm not implying that you haven't done your research on color, I just don't really agree with a few things.
…Maybe I should turn this into a meta on the topic of color.
*Notice: Technically, in my opinion, the number of red-themed protagonists are 4 (Takato, Takuya, Taiki, and Hiro) So that's not most of them, just a half!
And I think colorcoding/theme color should be about personality too.
Adventure/02:
Adventure has some very strict color-coding for its characters thanks to the Crests: Taichi with orange, Yamato with blue, Sora with red, Koushirou with purple, Mimi with green, Jou with grey, Takeru with yellow, and Hikari with pink. (And like you see, it... doesn't really relevant to their partners.) For an example:
Tumblr media
02... Well, it is less clear. But considering that 02 kids are closer to their partners than Adventure ones, we can assign them as: “light blue” for Daisuke, “green” for Ken, “red” for Miyako, “yellow” for Iori, “orange” for Takeru, and “light pink” for Hikari.
Tumblr media
Like you see, there're problems. Sora with Miyako is both red, Mimi and Ken is both green, Takeru is somehow both yellow and orange and crossed with Iori. And orange is also Taichi. Ugh.
So, when Adventure and 02 are together, I prefer:
Tumblr media
It is a lot of compromising work, but I think this is acceptable. (When Michael is not there, Daisuke's one should be light blue.)
Tamers: It is much easier, and simpler. Red for Takato, green for Jianliang, and blue for Ruki. Once again, not relevant to their partners, but more about the song "Primary Colors". (Let's just skip Ryou and others.) But I think the shade of red should be either crimson for "Digital Hazard" and "Dukemon: Crimson Mode", or a light red for his light red eyes.
Frontier: Frontier... is a pain in explaining, introducing, and analyzing. I like it, but...
When Frontier gang is alone, I prefer red for Takuya, blue for Kouji, lavender for Izumi, yellow for Junpei, green for Tomoki, and purple-tinted grey for Kouichi.
Tumblr media
But when they go with the Adventure/02 ones, it will be “orange-red" for Takuya, “light blue” for Kouji, “light green” for Tomoki, “light purple” for Izumi, “orange-yellow” for Junpei, and “light grey” for Kouichi. (This is based on the penlights products).
Tumblr media
...It is not that good, because many shades just look near the same, but oh.
You can see how the shades change based on they are alone or not.
Tumblr media
Frontier's colorcoding is not based on anything! Not Sentai relevant, nor D-Scanner, nor elemental symbols.
By the way, for time theme, Adventure is the noon, 02 is the afternoon, Tamer is night, and Frontier is dawn.
I will just pass Savers and Xros Wars. Yellow for Masaru, red for Taiki and purple for Tagiru because those are the colors of their Tamers cards in the Digimon Card Game 2020. Although Taiki's red is more flexible, as his personality is, meh, very interesting, so the shades can be quite broad.
Appmon:
From the OP 2 of Appmon:
Tumblr media
I... specially show disinterest to this. I really think Haru and Yuujin should swap their colors. And this is why I state Haru is green-themed, both his hair and personality.
Appmon wants it to be red for Haru, blue for Eri, yellow for Astra, and black/grey for Rei (purple for the OP 2).
I will let this for you to think.
I think purple for Hiro is good, just because your reasons above, and it is relevant to the "Ghost Game" theme.
To be honest, all of the color problems come from the way Bandai and Toei have a ridiculous level of inconsistency in their products. The way Digimon characters are really against archetypes doesn't help.
Conclusion: I think crimson is more suitable for Takato, and Haru should be green. Others are super suitable. ...And to be honest, we should reduce the red in the nine arts. It's a bit too bright and flashy from my opinion.
Anyway, this is just a meta, and your art is enough pretty. I really want to hear your opinion!

And now for a big one!! Here's something I made for last year's Odaiba Memorial. I had been planning it since the previous year and it took me a while to complete but I'm so proud of myself for having finished it in time :')
Digimon has been a huge part of my life since I was very little and I grew alongside the various seasons of the anime so I wanted to pay a little homage to it by drawing all the main protagonists so far! If you check the individual posts on my Instagram you can read a little about my experiences and memories with each season~

Waves
anakin skywalker x reader (sort of)
ahsoka x reader (sort of)
summary: After a hard battle, It’s left to you to carry a message to two Jedi from your past
a/n: this is sort of a character study of the protagonist - you! it’s also kind of a prologue to a series that will be anakin x reader - more details to come! based off of Dean Lewis’ ‘Waves’.
note: please know that i actually don’t know almost anything about star
warnings: angst, briefs descriptions of canon-typical violence, technically minor character death, mourning, non-canon compliant
There will come a time in your life when you will need to let go, when the galaxy stops shifting and the ground under your feet liquifies, it’s your duty to continue to protect. Continue to serve.
This is what the code tells us.
This is what your Master would always tell you.  He always was referring to the loss of civilians, the failure of a mission that could have succeeded. You never thought it would apply to losing him.
You arrived at the temple older than most younglings — five years old, feisty and strong, very strong in the ways of the Jedi already.  Back home on Onapesca, The Force was used peacefully, the ways taught to their young. You, however had been unfittingly volatile with your abilities, and so, the Jedi found you.
With already advanced training, it only took you four years to become eligible to have a master, and were taken on quickly by Master Bosque, a human such as yourself, one of the only Sentinels left in the order.
From the age of nine on, you and Bosque had been attached at the waist.
Even after becoming a knight, you went on missions and outreaches frequently with him, even becoming a Sentinel such as him, although your affinity had always been split between healing, The Force itself and your notable technique for sabers, as demonstrated by the three beads that used to hang on your braid.
His death came to you like an abrupt ending you always knew would come but never thought it would.
“Master?”
The young Togruta Padawan interrupts you melancholy reflection, using the title that’s almost yours.
“My apologies, young one,” you say properly. “I got caught up in my thoughts.”
Ahsoka is her name, and she’s as bright eyed and bushy tailed as you can be, going into an active war zone as a fourteen-year-old. Her braid is strung with a yellow bead — proficiency with that saber she wields. You can feel her desperation to prove herself wafting through the air, and, if you focus hard enough, it comes in waves, ripples in the air. Her energy reminds you of someone you haven’t spoken to in so long…
“You’re okay, Master L/n. I’m just wondering if you know my new master.”
Her new master?
“Obi-Wan and I are close, yes.”
“Not Master Kenobi, Master Skywalker!”
Your breath leaves you and doesn’t do you the favor of coming back. Anakin with a Padawan? That would not end well, especially with what you’ve heard about his… unique combat tactics. Of course, you haven’t seen him since right after your Knighting ceremony.
But he’s been plaguing your thoughts since after the Siege of Cassiopeia, the prospect of his return to your life, along with Obi-Wan’s a mixture of bittersweet emotions, of feelings that you don’t know if they will stay covered.
“Anakin? I didn’t know he was taking a Padawan.”
Ahsoka shrugs, sharp incisors gleaming.
“He’s getting one whether he likes it or not.”
Whether he likes it or not, is for sure.
“Yes, I know him. We grew up together, trained together since both of us were young Padawans with young Masters.” you pause, trying to formulate an unbiased explanation of Anakin, whose very presence always seems to affect you in the worst ways. “He’s… hard to capture in words, I would say. But… He’s awfully skilled in mechanics and piloting, with his blade, of course, as well. Hard headed, stubborn, irritating, but he’s also funny, and caring and… the most loyal person you will ever meet. Protective, too.”
“He sounds great.”
You refrain from agreeing with her. He is great. He’s just a difficult topic for you to broach right now. Ahsoka keeps darting her eyes at you, then back to her holopad.
“Was there something else, Ahsoka?”
“I’m really sorry about Master Bosque, Master L/n.”
Even just his name knocks it out of you. Everything seems to leave you breathless and gasping for the past you can never return to. You feel your vocal chords tighten.
No attachment.
“Thank you.”
There’s not much to say about it, at least not to her. You ache to tell someone how you feel, but it seems that a Padawan whom you just met may not be the best choice.
You grip your lightsabers and close your eyes, searching for a semblance of your Master, a sign, any sign that he’s watching over this journey, that he’s helping to better the tasks ahead.
(he’s missing from The Force, just like he is from your life, unjustly gone from the world that still needs him)
(you still need him)
In the village where you grew, you were taught to respect the Living Force. Your mother, your family, and the population who helped to raise you, the daughter of an important someone or other, had always taught you that the spirits of the lost would always be with you, and that you had a unique gift: you could not only sense the spirits, you could call them, channel them. Later, within your training as a Jedi, you learned that the spirits you once knew were actually The Force, and that the sense you’d had for them was an understanding most grown Jedi strived to reach.
You feel no such spirits upon entry to Christophsis.
It’s almost a vacuum of the Living Force, such a characteristic is becoming increasingly common in the war.
The Force beacons to the two Jedi on the planet, where your destination must be. You close your eyes, reaching out to Anakin, looking for the link you used to have, looking for his distinct signal. Like his unique radio frequency, he sends ripples through The Force, the layer under reality that you have the ability to sense. Not quite through The Force, halfway between the realms.
He’s there, alright.
The link that you have suppressed for so many cycles pulses in the back of your mind like an old memory, which you suppose it is.
You must prepare yourself for the confrontation that awaits.
The front is impossible to break, not without reinforcements, not with the limited resources that are steadily depleting.
Anakin believes that with a little assistance from the Council, they can power through and break the line, though, as sore as it is to admit it, continuing his tactics might have the very very very slight possibility of failing.
Maybe.
Rex can’t know that he has his doubts, though, because Anakin knows that Rex is counting on him. And Obi-Wan.
Definitely Obi-Wan.
The end of the latest battle heralds another sore reminders of the lack of supplies and dashed team spirit, even for a victory.
Something’s off. It’s a feeling that started at the end of the aforementioned battle, a stirring in the back of his mind, a feeling that feels familiar, something he hasn’t felt in a long time.
“Sent reinforcements, we have,” Yoda tells him and Obi-Wan. “Bothering you, is something, Skywalker?”
Anakin clears his throat.
“No, Master Yoda. Everything-“
The hologram cuts out before he even finishes his excuse for distraction. Obi-Wan and Rex are both staring at him. What do they want? What do they have to say?
“Anakin,” Obi-Wan starts. Anakin squeezes his eyes shut. The feeling surges. What is this? Why does he feel it now, after years of trying to reach out, why is this coming back to haunt him now?
“She’s coming, isn’t she?” He demands, somewhat belligerently, feeling like a petulant child, whining to his master. “You feel it, right? Did you know?”
“Anakin, I’m as surprised as you are. As far as I knew, she was still on Cassiopeia carrying out covert operations.” Obi-Wan shakes his head, leaning on the podium. Anakin turns to Rex, hoping he’d heard from his best friend, Y/n’s clone commander.
“Don’t look at me, General, I haven’t heard from Jex since the radios went dead. He told me they were headed back to Coruscant.”
Anakin rubs his eyes, feeling the storm brewing.
This girl.
It’s almost comical, the expression on both Skywalker and Kenobi’s faces, their confusion when they meet the whirlwind that is Ahsoka Tano. It’s fine, they’ll adjust, she’s a perfect little version of Anakin, (She kind of reminds you of yourself, if you’re being honest) and even if he doesn’t see it, she’s the best Padawan he could have gotten.
You step away from the conversation, getting a report from one of the Clones in blue - Hach. The situation doesn’t sound good.
you’ll see what Rex has to say about battle strategy, but you have a pretty good idea of what the next step is.
“Why don’t you take Ahsoka to go observe. Get her familiarized with the ground.”
“Who, the youngling?”
“Padawan!”
And so, the three Jedi are left alone, and you finally get a chance to look at them, see how they’ve changed. Obi-Wan, bless his soul, is virtually unchanged, the only difference is his armor. Anakin, however…
You haven’t seen him since recently after the both of you were Knighted, since the night of the huge argument. His hair is longer, his face rougher, a short scar marked over his right eye. His mechanical hand, one of his many impressive feats of engineering, is scratched up and dulled after many battles. His blue eyes search you, probably trying to gauge the same thing that you are— if you’re still angry.
You’re not, if anyone was wondering. Your anger has strictly faded into a cold feeling of indifference— or that might be the layers of suppression that result from years and years of denying what actually happened that night.
“Y/n, my dear, It’s been quite a while,” Obi-Wan says, warm smile flitting onto his face.
“It has, Master Kenobi. Strange how the time goes.”
Anakin nods at you. Obi wan elbows him. “Ow!” He rubs the back of his neck. “You cut your hair.”
You smack your lips awkwardly.
“Well,” Obi wan breaks the uncomfortable silence, already stepping away. “I must go speak with the troops. Anakin, why don’t you update Y/n on the status of the battle.”
You thank The Force for granting you this momentary reprieve from the heartbreaking news you carry, but it comes with the price of painstakingly awkward conversation with Skywalker.
He’s brash and direct, just like you remember him, updating you on the latest supply shortage, the power outages, the horrors of this war, appearing around every corner.
“I didn’t know you were off of Cassiopeia. I thought the Siege was still in effect,” He admits. You shake your head, remembering what you need to tell him.
“We went radio silent during the last stages of the Siege, which reminds me,” you snap your comm out of its slot on your gauntlet. “Can you tune me to your frequency?”
He tilts his head, grinning slyly.
“Four years and you still haven’t learned how to program a comm?”
“Jex is a mechanic, Skywalker,” You drop the comm into his black- gloves hand. “And for your information, I know how to do it, I just …prefer not to.”
“Oh, I’m sure, and I wasted all that time on Naboo teaching you how to program them, just for you to mooch off poor Jex.”
“No one’s mooching anything! Jex is happy to help me!”
“Oh, I’m sure.”
“What that supposed to-“
You’re cut off by the beeping from both of your comms, meaning Rex’s found something, probably something that’s just going to heighten the risks of the upcoming battle.
Is there a tactical advantage to sending Ahsoka, the smallest of you all, to sneak past the force field? Sure, yes. Does it pleasure you to torment Anakin with his new spitfire padawan? Of fucking course.
So the two bickering Jedi set off to set charges  on the barrier, leaving you with Kenobi and Rex.
“What’s the plan, Generals?” The clone asks. You glance at Obi-Wan.
“Whaddya say, old man? the old fashioned surrender?”
He sighs.
“Y/n, I resent it when you call me that, but… yes. The old fashioned surrender should give them enough time.”
You grin.
“Sounds like a plan.”
The downside of a plan going, well, according to plan, is that you have no more time to speak to anakin and Master Kenobi about what will happen upon return to shore leave on Coruscant.
It’s late, Ahsoka has retired to her quarters on the Resolute, leaving only the three senior Jedi in the common area, reflecting and writing reports of the events on Christophsis. You take in a deep breath, steeling yourself.
“Master Kenobi, Skywalker,” You address them formally, trying to stay detached. “I’m afraid I haven’t been completely… honest about the events of the final battle for Cassiopeia.”
Both Jedi fixate on you, concern evident on their battle-worn faces.
“I didn’t want to distract you before going into combat, and perhaps I was sparing myself the grief of reliving it… but… on Cassiopeia, I was captured.” Better to start off with the beginning of the story. “It was part of the plan, but the tactics of the Separatists were even more convoluted than what any of us could have imagined, so, Master Bosque saw the plan’s acceleration.” You take a deep breath. “It was… sloppy, it was tragic. We lost everyone on the mission, except myself… and Jex.” You pause, to recuperate yourself, to keep your voice from cracking, but it grows think in your throat. “Bosque was killed. I’m sorry. I know how much he meant to both of you.”
You breathe shakily. Kenobi seems frozen, paralyzed by grief. His oldest friend, gone at the hands of this war. Skywalker’s blue eyes have hardened, his mouth turned down. Bosque helped Kenobi train him, as well. He was to Anakin what Kenobi is to you.
“Upon our return to Coruscant for shore leave, there will be a ceremony, commemorating Bosque, followed by my induction to the Order of Mastery.”
Anakin recoils at this. You know how much he wishes to become a Master.
Deafening silence, the millings about of Clones.
“I should- I want you, Master Kenobi, to conduct the ceremony as my honorary Post- Master. And- and I knew you would want to see him. One last time.”
You hold your breath, partly in suspense, mostly to keep from breaking out in sobs. You have not wept for him. You will not.
You will not.
But these two— if anyone could make you cry for the Master you wish was still here, they could.
So you leave.
You leave them to their grief.
A coward’s move, yes.
But you are a coward.
And you go to your quarters and try to sleep, trying desperately to not feel, not because it’s what the order requires, but because it just hurts too much to feel anymore.

Note
as someone who's not well-versed in media color theory, what exactly does being blue/red/yellow/etc. coded mean?
Hi Anon! Thanks for this question. I'll preface this answer by saying that I'm in no way an expert in this topic but I can give you my understanding of the matter (and others can chip in too if they want).
tvtropes.org offers a simple explanation to colour use in media:
Vision is the one sense we humans rely on the most. We usually identify things by sight rather than sound or smell. It is for this reason that creators of visual media will make sure that things look different enough for the audience to easily recognize and tell apart. It can also be a form of visual shorthand for characterization, so that the audience can tell certain things about a character or setting without having to be told. One way to do this is to use color as an indicator that two things are different (when using different colours) or two things belong to the same category (when using the same colors). Color can indicate who is the good guy and who is the bad guy, they can indicate personality type, they can say things about gameplay elements in a video game, which organization or group the person belongs to, et cetera.
In different cultures, people have generally come to an agreement about what colours might represent in terms of emotions or personalities etc. These interpretations usually come from nature. For example, blue 'things' like the ocean or the sky bring to mind feelings of calm and stability, whereas red 'things' like fire or blood can evoke sensations of danger or love. Greens and browns are closely related to nature, thus can be relaxing or 'down to earth'.
Wikipedia lists some common associations...but this can vary across different cultures (and can change over time - for example, blue used to be a feminine colour whereas red/pink used to be masculine, now it is the opposite). In tv shows, characters are commonly colour-coded to not only set them apart from the other characters but to also help indicate their personality type. See @respectthepetty's own listing of what colours can mean with examples of characters from ql media.
With the romance genre, using colour-coded characters gives us the added visual representation of them accepting their feelings/becoming a couple etc when they exchange their colours.

Blue Talay in Puen's Pink/red (and vice versa) in Vice Versa. Red Pran lying on Blue Pat's colours (and vv) in Bad Buddy. Black/Blue Bi King in Uea's red (and vv) in Bed Friend. And Orange/Yellow Ink in Pa's lime green (and vv) in Bad Buddy.
Also, this is another great post in which @respectthepetty offers examples of the common colour choices used in ql media in Thailand, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. And here's one which goes into more detail about The Eclipse and colours in Thailand and how they connect to tradition and other object symbolism such as the sun/moon/days of the week etc.
I hope this has gone some way to answering your question anon. I'll just add that, although there is a kind of universal understanding of the meanings of colour, they're not absolute truths. You can also make them mean what you want to. So if you see a character who quite often wears the colour blue, they might be stable and loyal...but they also might be passionate and loud, or a happy ball of sunshine...because more often than not people aren't just one thing, we contain a multitude of emotions and the labels we attribute to ourselves (or others) can change all the time. The use of the single colour, however, is just a helpful visual way of identifying and highlighting a character's persona.

The Key Code
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes x Reader
Summary: Intelligence is nothing without a little common sense.
Word Count: 790
a/n: a short drabble based on this iconic post :)
Tumblr media
“This is child's play.” Sherlock quipped as he knelt down infront of the keypad. You both stood in the basement of an apartment that had been cordened off as a crime scene. Yellow tape covered each of the doors and the musty smell of dampness hung in the air. Yet Sherlock seemed absoulutely exhilarated.
He rolled up his sleeves and clasped his hands together as he looked at the digital lock. “So simple explaining it would almost be a waste of time.”
“I have a feeling you're going to explain anyway,” you said, not missing the giddy smirk that appeared on Sherlock's lips. His eyes focused on the keypad before him and the deductions began.
“Simple mathematics tells us that there are a total of twenty-four possible combinations and considering the make of this particular lock and factoring in probability it's most likely a four-digit code,” Sherlock spoke so quickly you struggled to keep up. “However, like most keypads of this design, we can only assume that there is a limited number of attempts that can be made before an alarm sounds or it locks indefinitely. So the prior twenty-four combinations are useless.”
You rolled your eyes at the revelation, knowing full well that Sherlock wouldn't waste his breath on information he thought was 'useless.' Nothing he'd just said was vital to the case nor would it open the door any quicker. He just wanted to show you that he could figure it out.
In short, he was showing off.
“So, that leaves us with a four-digit code comprised of the numbers zero, seven, nine and one.”
A hint of pride caused you to smile as you caught on to what Sherlock was getting at. You felt slightly smug that you'd cracked it before the detective had voiced it out loud.
“Now, most would falsely believe the code to be 1970.”
Your smile fell.
“Statistically speaking, a majority of people when told to choose a four-digit code will naturally choose their birth year. And judging by the key pads' appearance and the fact that the maker of this brand–” Sherlock tapped the name engraved in bold capitals along the metallic bottom of the lock. “–has been out of business for over a decade I think it's fair to say that this keypad is a few years old, to say the least.” He finished simply.
You couldn't help but listen to him with amazement. Despite how often you'd witnessed Sherlock pry the truth from tiny, unnoticeable details, invisible to every other eye but his own, you still found it extraordinary. Yet you still attempted to hide your smile, not wanting to give Sherlock the gratification of impressing you once again.
“It's evident that the code is not 1970 since the first number is obviously zero.”
“Obviously,” you mimicked him sarcastically. Sherlock simply rolled his eyes. There was an odd sense of fondness in the gesture.
“Look, the number's practically been worn away. Undoubtedly due to the presence of oil on the pad of the finger when the first button was pressed. Therefore the first number must be zero.”
His ramblings and explanations slowly grew quieter as you noticed something rather important.
“Sherlock.”
“However, we can't ignore the psychological aspect–”
“Sherlock–” You tapped his shoulder.
“The code must be something memorable, something someone would not easily forget. An anniversary is unlikely, given the unliveable state of the apartment. The owner is single. So, we return to the concept of a birthday.”
“Sherlock,” you said again, this time louder. You sighed when his gaze didn't shift away from the keypad.
“So that leaves us with one possibility. It must be 0719, the 19th of July. A day of significance to the owner. Once we factor in the chance of any error we're still left with the knowledge that this is most likely the code.”
“Are you done?” You asked when he finally seemed to have finished his tangent. He turned to you with a prideful, smug grin, his hands folded behind his back. He was practically waiting for your praise.
“That was fantastic, really impressive,” you said, noticing his failed attempt at hiding his grin and the shade of pink that dusted his cheeks at your words. “But–” Sherlock watched as you reached out and pulled down on the door handle. It gave way with ease and swung wide open.
He watched you with bewilderment, his brows furrowed. You swallowed your amusement at the sight of Sherlock Holmes confused. It was almost as entertaining as the look that took hold of his expression when he glanced down and finally took notice of the green light blinking up at him.
“The light's green,” you deduced. “It's already unlocked.”
Astounding intelligence, meet common sense.

Ok Byler Nation let's chat evidence
Framing and background details
Tumblr media
Explanation for the less obvious frames:
Top right: this promotional image shows El looking backward away from Mike as they hold hands at an arm's length, hinting at an upcoming separation. Note Mike is wearing yellow, the color established to represent Will.
Right second from top: the Boys Don't Cry poster is in itself yellow and blue (plus has green palm trees, the colors mixed make green, the palm trees hint at the "blue and yellow meet in the west" theory and imply the trip to California bringing them together)
Left second from top: the wall is yellow, the door is blue and noticably open. Hmmmm.
Second from bottom (both left and right): Will is regularly framed as standing between El and Mike, these are just two potent examples. In the left example El herself wears their colors while defending them from the Mind Flayer which is interesting. In the right example Will wears Mike's color while Mike wears both. Notably El's rink-o-mania dress also contains blue and yellow streaks if my eyes aren't failing me (though not visible here), and she is wearing one of Will's shirts beneath (confirmed by costuming). This hints at a supportive reaction to byler from her. Her love for her brother is closest to her heart, and while bearing their colors this implies her care for them is stronger than any resentment or jealousy could be.
Bottom left: it would appear the yellow and blue spotlights seen here in rink-o-mania shine the brightest next to the other colors-- but there is a dim reddish light positioned between them. These lights are directly behind the three as Will skates sadly behind El and Mike. Hmmmm.
Bottom right: El stands alone facing the threat ahead and showing her need for independence, meanwhile byler is framed as a pair standing in parallel framing to Jopper and Jancy. This is also particularly interesting because of the three pairings all sharing narrative themes and subtext.
Microexpressions
Tumblr media
Top left: body language mirroring, they have positioned themselves to sit in the same position. Max's rainbow shirt as she sits somewhat between them might be a stretch, but I'll point it out anyway.
Top right: they are flooded with blue and yellow lighting, Mike glances at Will's lips for the millionth time as his girlfriend is actively hiding and having a breakdown. He is distracted, he's too busy with Will to be there for El like she needs.
Middle left: in this frame Will's hand moves to clutch Mike closer, but hesitates. (Will has rarely been the first initiate when it comes to physical contact with Mike despite showing great affection for others like Lucas and Jonathan, showing his fears)
Middle right: Mike's hand clutches tight on Will's shoulder with no hesitation. This seems to be both to reassure Will, and to hold him close as if afraid to lose him again. His grip looks tight, emotionally charged. Mike has always initiated contact with Will easily, expressing how comfortable and trusting he is toward him.
Middle center: Mike actually did in fact notice Will crying. He didn't want to put him on the spot in front of others, and likely was having his own intense inner thoughts in this moment. We know already that Mike represses his inner needs and emotions until they burst. He simply hasn't burst yet.
Bottom on both: more examples of the Meaningful Mike Stare
Color coding
Tumblr media
Top left: an early promo shot shows them wearing one another's colors yet again, in the very season during which El and Mike start to become strained.
Bottom left: the lights behind them as I pointed out above, as well as Mike and Will's shirts and the streaks on El's dress.
(no explanation for the middle row, you get it, yellow and blue and Meaningful Mike Stares(tm) everywhere.)
Bottom right: while the boys are still wearing one another's colors, El's seat was framed as between them in a very noticeable manner. Like with all things on this show, we know things like this are in fact deliberate choice. El has symbolically contributed to the space between them, and she needs to be alone to heal and know herself more than anything. El distancing from Mike opens the space between them, they are still apart, but there is no obstacle in this moment. When Mike is distant from El, he is closer to Will. This framing takes place as El is angry with Mike for a reason.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus: both of them have at some point in s4 worn blue and yellow at the same time for a long period.
